Jekalyn Almonique Carr (born April 22, 1997) is an American singer, songwriter, author, and motivational speaker. She is a 3x Grammy nominated musician, a Dove Award winner. Jekalyn wrote a book entitled You Will Win, which was published in 2018 and tied to a song released by the same name. The single stayed at #1 on the Billboard Gospel radio charts for 6 weeks. Carr has also been featured on Greenleaf on the Oprah Winfrey Network and in the film Never Heard. Carr was also honored by Ebony magazine as one of the POWER 100 most influential people in 2014 in the world.
Carr was born on April 22, 1997, in Memphis, Tennessee, She is a native from West Memphis, Arkansas, as Jekalyn Almonique Carr, to Allen Lindsey “Jim” Carr, and Jennifer Denise “Mary” Carr. She has three siblings: Allen Lindsey Carr Jr., Allundria Carr, and an adopted brother Munroe Winans (also known as Munroe Winans-Carr).
Her first national single was released in 2012, with the release of "Greater Is Coming", by Lunjeal Music Group. This was on her debut studio album, Greater Is Coming, released on May 21, 2013, and this was her breakthrough release reaching No. 3 on Billboard Gospel Albums.Carr won a Stellar Award at the age of 16.She released her subsequent studio album, It's Gonna Happen, on October 7, 2014. This was followed by her live albums The Life Project and One Nation Under God, both of which debuted at #1 on Billboard Gospel Albums chart. All of her albums were released on the independent label Lunjeal Music Group.
