Now United sometimes abbreviated as NU is a global pop music group created in December, 2017 by American Idol creator Simon Fuller, and is managed by XIX Entertainment. The group consists of 14 members, each of a different nationality. Since its debut, Now United has grown to fame in a number of countries worldwide especially Brazil, Philippines, India and Arab countries.
In mid-2016, American Idol creator and Spice Girls' manager Simon Fuller began searching for talent to fulfill his plan of creating a global pop group with members from all over the world through his reality "Now United Show". Since the reality show would not be transmitted in TV programs , but through social networks . The selection took place through the help of digital platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and TikTok around the globe. Fourteen people of different nationalities were selected.
Fuller confirmed to MBW in September 2018 that "in order to recruit the 11 youngsters in Now United, he employed 20 people to travel the world for 18 months, holding auditions with groups of 10 to 20 people at a time. But after seeing the talents of various youngsters he decided to make a group of 14 members and may add more members in the future if audiences respond positively."
From November 11 to 22, 2017, Now United's official website started introducing its members with video teasers along with their names and flags representing each country. The first two members were announced on 11 November – Joalin Loukamaa from Finland and Sofya Plotnikova from Russia. New members were then announced on the following days, starting with Diarra Sylla from Senegal on 12 November, Noah Urrea from the United States along with a video-teaser of band members dancing to RedOne's song "Boom Boom", then Any Gabrielly from Brazil on the 14th. Four new members were announced on the 15th – Heyoon Jeong from South Korea, Hina Yoshihara from Japan, Josh Beauchamp from Canada and Lamar Morris from The United Kingdom. Bailey May from the Philippines and Shivani Paliwal from India were announced on November 16, followed by Krystian Wang from China. Sabina Hidalgo from Mexico was announced as a new member on November 21, with the final member Sina Deinert from Germany announced on November 22.
On December 5, 2017, Now United released their first single "Summer in the City" with a music video which gathered over 12 million views. Summer in the City" is an English version of the 90's Swedish classic "Sommaren i City" by girl group Angel.
From April 2018, the band begin their first promo world tour, where they would perform in programs of television by the world , as well as they would make shows. Now United undertook performance in front of teen audience of various countries.
The tour began from Moscow, Russia, where they made their first public appearance on television performing "Summer in the City" in the grand finale of the Russian The Voice Kids. At the end of the 2018, the group went through all the countries of the respective members and some other countries as well, notably Sweden and Austria.
On May 30, 2018, Now United was featured in the single "One World", the group's first collaboration with RedOne and Adelina. The video song, directed by Daniel Zlotin, was shown on all beIN Sports channels during Football World Cup throughout the Middle East , North Africa and France. The song was the musical signature of beIN SPORTS throughout the tournament, touching hearts of millions of viewers around the world who share the same passion and excitement for the sports and for the international meeting that is the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
In July 2018, Now United debuted in the United States at The Late Late Show with James Corden performing their new song "What Are We Waiting For?".
In less than three months, the group released official videos of three singles, which were "What Are We Waiting For?", recorded in South Korea, "Who Would Think That Love?" recorded in Mexico and "All Day", recorded in California.
During the tour of India in early November 2018, Now United released the single "How We Do It", collaborated with Indian rapper Badshah and sponsored by the Pepsi soft drinks brand. The song became Now United's huge success in India. Then their single "Beautiful Life" was also shot in India.
In December of 2018 , the documentary "Dreams Come True: The Documentary" was released, which featured scenes from the auditions held to select the members of the group and the trajectory behind the creation of Simon Fuller.
During his tour of the Philippines , the group recorded and released two new singles : "Afraid Of Letting Go" and "Sundin Ang Puso", the latter being in partnership with the Pepsi, first song officially in the Filipino language. AC Bonifacio had cameo in Afraid of Letting Go.
The group also participated in the Opening Ceremony of the 2019 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Abu Dhabi, where they teased and performed their new song "Parana".
By mid-2019, it was announced that two new members will be added to Now United, totalling 16 members to the group. The selection will take place through social networks, where fans will be able to decide which country and member will be part of the group. In May, it was announced that the first of them will be from Australia.
On June 1, 2019 , the group performed live at the Opening Ceremony of the 2019 UEFA Champions League final in Madrid presented by Pepsi. Singing on the same stage as great artists, like Imagine Dragons.
They shooted their three singles in their American World Tour; On 7, June Now United release of their new single "ParanĆ”", whose music video was recorded in SĆ£o Paulo , Brazil, and will feature fans, selected from auditions by Rexona Dance Studio. The next month, on 25 July, their new single "Sunday Morning" was released which includes the members on road trip up at Californian Coast.Their next music video of single “Crazy, Stupid, Silly Love” was released on 11 August featuring dancers from Velocity Dance Convention and filmed in Las Vegas directed by Kyle Hanagami.
In May 2018, Aline Santos, global head of diversity and inclusion at Unilever announced a partnership with Now United at the Unilever #unstereotype panel at Cannes Lions.
In June 2018, Now United performed to an audience of 20,000 at SAP's Sapphire Now show in Orlando, introduced by SAP's CEO Bill McDermott and Simon Fuller. An official partnership with SAP was announced at the 2018 Mobile World Congress.
